What to expect

Every step from your first call to your first month, so nothing about starting treatment is a mystery.

1
Day 1

You call, or we call you

A member of our team answers Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm ET. We answer your questions, check your insurance, and book your first appointment, usually for the same or next business day. If you start online after hours, we call you first thing in the morning.

2
Day 1–2

Individual counseling session

Your first appointment is a private video session with a professional counselor. They'll ask about your history, what you're using, what's worked before and what hasn't, and what you want out of treatment. This isn't a test. It's how we build a plan that's actually yours, and your counselor stays with you through the whole program.

3
Same day

Video visit with your provider

Right after counseling, you see a licensed physician or nurse practitioner by video. They review your health, confirm buprenorphine is right for you, and set your starting dose. Whatever you need medically, this is who takes care of it.

4
Before the call ends

Your prescription is sent

You choose the pharmacy. Your provider e-sends the prescription there before the visit ends, along with naloxone and any comfort medications. Most pharmacies have it ready within the hour.

5
Day 1–3

First dose at home

Your provider walks you through timing (you need to be in mild withdrawal first) and stays reachable by text through the first day. Most people feel withdrawal ease within an hour of the first dose and have their dose settled within a few days.

6
Week 1

First drug screen, at home

We mail you a test kit. You complete it during a short video check-in, no lab trip. Results stay between you and your care team.

7
Weeks 2–4 and beyond

Your rhythm

Weekly counseling or group by video, regular provider check-ins, refills without an office visit, and a recovery specialist for rides, housing, work, and court dates. About one hour a week, on a schedule that fits your life.

Before your first visit, have ready

  • A phone or computer with a camera
  • Photo ID
  • Insurance card, if you have one
  • The name of the pharmacy you want to use
  • A private spot for about an hour

Missing something? Start anyway. We'll work around it.

Your care team

A counselor you'll see every week, a physician or nurse practitioner who manages your medication, and a recovery specialist for everything outside the clinic. Same people, every time.

The patient portal

Once you're enrolled, you'll get a login to our patient portal to join video visits, message your team, and see your appointments. The portal is coming soon.

Ready when you are

Call Mon–Fri 8am–4pm ET, or start online any time and we'll call you back.
